Gentlemen, This Is A Football - September 9, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
The man said to me, "Son of man,
look with your eyes and hear with your ears
and pay attention to everything I am going to show you,
for that is why you have been brought here.
Tell the house of Israel everything you see."
Ezekiel 40:4

Daily Thought

Vince Lombardi, the new coach, first day, huddled the team around him. "Gentlemen, this is a football."

The Green Bay Packers had been playing the game, but they had forgotten the fundamentals.

Some of the Pharisees said, "This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath." But others asked, "How can a sinner do such miraculous signs?" So they were divided. A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. "We know this man is a sinner. We are disciples of Moses! We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this fellow, we don't even know where he comes from."
--John 9:16, 24, 28-29

The game.

"Whether he is a sinner or not, I don't know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!"
--John 9:25

The fundamentals.

Gentlemen, this is a football.

To God's Glory,
Dave Price

Daily Prayer

Creator God, what an amazing world. Just the idea that I am here amazes me. In the corner of this vast universe, You pay attention to me. And I pay attention to You. Sometimes. How can the Creator of the universe love me so deeply, and I take You for granted all too often.

God, may I at all times remember the very basic things about You. You are love. You are holy and good, righteous and true. My ego blinds me to Your wonder. May I keep my eyes open, focused on You.

Amen.
