All Or Nothing - December 12, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me,
if only I may finish the race and complete the task
the Lord Jesus has given me-
the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace.
Acts 20:24

Daily Thought

"Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important."
~C.S. Lewis, Christian Apologetics

To God's Glory,
Dave Price

Daily Prayer

God, Your Law is summed up simply - love You with everything I am and everything I have. And if I do that, while I do that, I will love my neighbor as myself. Help me put aside my self-centered desires, my wants and wishes, for the good of those who have need.

May I hold nothing back, my God, but rather give extravagantly - just the way You have given me a life overflowing with grace, goodness, freedom, joy, peace, trust, faith, hope, and love.

Amen

I Did It Thy Way - August 11, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
This is what the LORD says:
"Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
who depends on flesh for his strength
and whose heart turns away from the LORD.
Jeremiah 17:5

Daily Thought

I never saw Frank Sinatra.

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has not.
--My Way, Frank Sinatra,
December 12, 1915 - May 14, 1998

I never will. He lived for today, and now he's gone.

Martin Luther, on the other hand...

Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.
--Martin Luther, November 10, 1483 - eternity

He's planning ahead.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
whose confidence is in him.
He will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.
--Jeremiah 17:7-8

To God's Glory,
Dave Price

Daily Prayer

God of all eternity, In the beginning, You are. In fact, You told us You're Name: "I Am that I Am." You are before time, and outside of time, and beyond time, And I have no idea what that even means. All I know is it means You are beyond me, beyond my understanding, and worthy of worship.

You who were outside of time, entered time to tell a story, beginning with Creation and culminating with an eternal Kingdom. Your Son, Jesus Christ, my King, my Savior, my Lord, is on the throne. I give You my full allegiance. My life is Yours.

Amen.

Eat, Drink, And Be Merry - July 14, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
If a liar and deceiver comes and says,
'I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,'
he would be just the prophet for this people!
Micah 2:11

Daily Thought

For all you do, this Bud's for you. Heineken refreshes the parts other beers cannot reach. Tastes Great, Less Filling. Weekends were made for Michelob. Where there's life, there's Bud. It's Miller time! Everything you wanted in a beer. And less. Schlitz, the beer that made Milwaukee famous. Here's to good friends, tonight is kind of special. Lowenbrau. If you've got the time, we've got the beer. St. Pauli Girl: The Original Party Girl. Newcastle Brown Ale: The Other Side of Dark. Michelob Ultra: Lose the carbs. Not the taste. Corona: Miles Away From Ordinary. When You're Out of Schlitz, You're Out Of Beer. Foster's: Australian for beer. Beck's: Life Beckons. It's what your right arm's for. Guinness. Out of the darkness comes light. When you say Budweiser, you've said it all.

Dave Price

Daily Prayer

Lord God, Lest I say to myself, "I have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry," (Luke 12:19-21) may I never forget that each day is a gift from You. May I store up treasures in Your Kingdom, may I be heavenly minded, may my first love always be You. Then truly will I have life and life to the full. Then truly may I eat, drink, and be glad.

Amen

He Is No Fool - May 27, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
Unless the LORD builds the house,
its builders labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchmen stand guard in vain.
Psalm 127:1

Daily Thought

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;

"The care of $200 million is enough to kill anyone.
There is no pleasure in it."
--W.H. Vanderbilt

"I have made millions, but they have brought me no happiness."
--John D. Rockefeller

"Millions seldom smile."
--Andrew Carnegie

"I was happier when I was a mechanic."
--Henry Ford

Satan, the thief, steals our life by giving us more and more

I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
--John 10:10

"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep
to gain that which he cannot lose."
--Jim Elliot

Jesus, the Savior, enlarges our life as we give away more and more.

To God's Glory,
Dave and Debbie Price

Daily Prayer

Our Shepherd, our God, You give us life, keep us, lead us, teach us all things. If only we would listen and learn.

God, when I have done things my way, they have been empty. Even my successes. When I remember that my weakness is where You shine, when I submit to Your guidance, Your lead, when I take all that I have (which You gave me in the first place, by the way) and use it for Your Kingdom, for eternity, I discover the life You intended. Thank You for the joy!

Amen

A Leap Of Faith - April 11, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
"Saul, your kingdom will not endure;
the LORD has sought out a man after his own heart
and appointed him leader of his people,
because you have not kept the LORD's command."
1Samuel 13:14

Daily Thought

A squirrel jumped from one tree to another. The limb he aimed at he missed, but there was another beneath. Hundreds jump and many miss the branch, but none miss the tree.

It's what they do if they don't want to spend their whole lives in one tree.

The army of Israel possessed only two swords. One with Saul, the king. Jonathan, his son, held the other.

Jonathan said to his armor-bearer, "Come, then; we will cross over toward the men and let them see us. If they say to us, 'Wait there until we come to you,' we will stay where we are and not go up to them. But if they say, 'Come up to us,' we will climb up, because that will be our sign that the LORD has given them into our hands."
--1Samuel 14:8-10

This is a dumb plan. Jonathan's armor bearer said, "I'm with you heart and soul." His mind wasn't coming.

And they jumped.

Meanwhile, Saul stayed under a pomegranate tree.
--1Samuel 14:2

To God's Glory,
Dave

Daily Prayer

God, Your ways are not man's ways. By faith, I follow You. I trust You and I will jump when You call. I know if it is according to my strength and my wisdom, then I am in danger of taking credit. Therefore, God, my strength and my wisdom I submit to my heart and my soul, and I will follow You in faith.

And You get the glory.

Amen
