Daily Thought

A little boy, visiting his grandparents on their farm, was given a slingshot. He practiced, but he could never hit the target, until the last shot. Heading back for dinner, he spied Grandma's pet duck and let fly. Hit the duck square in the head. Dead. In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the woodpile, But sister Sally saw it all.

After lunch the next day Grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes."

"Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen."
"Remember the duck," she whispered. Johnny did the dishes.

Later, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, "Sorry but I need Sally to help make supper."

"Johnny told me he wanted to help you."
"Remember the duck," she whispered. Sally went fishing. Johnny helped Grandma.

After several days of doing his chores and Sally's, Johnny had enough. He went to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck.

With a hug, Grandma said, "I know. I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing. You know I love you and I forgave you right away. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you."

You think God didn't see what you did? Tell him!!!

To God's Glory,
Dave

Daily Prayer

Our Heavenly Father, You are love. We shall love one another, because love comes from You. You showed Your love among us. You sent Your one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. Our sins forgiven, we are free.

The world will know we are your disciples by our love. God may we love selflessly, forgive readily, and serve always.

Amen

  1. Is this a retelling of something you did to Drew growing up...a sort of public confession?
