More Than I Learned in Kindergarten - February 6, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
"If you come across your enemy's
ox or donkey wandering off,
be sure to take it back to him.
If you see the donkey
of someone who hates you
fallen down under its load,
do not leave it there;
be sure you help him with it."
Exodus 23:4-5

Daily Thought

Remember Robert Fulghum's book, All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten?

Share everything. Play fair. Don't hit people. Put things back where you found them. Clean up your own mess. Don't take things that aren't yours.

Common sense.

Much of God's Law is the same. Honor your father and mother. Don't steal. If you break it, you bought it.

Most religions say these things. It's what they have in common. If all you really need is what you learned in kindergarten, then just about any religion will do.

But God's First Law says any religion won't do. It says he is unique, one of a kind. He is uncommon.

Jesus said, if you love your friends, big deal! So does everybody.

"But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven." --Matthew 5:44-45

If you can love your enemies, loving everyone else is child's play.

To God's Glory,
Dave

Daily Prayer

Loving Father, Your ways are good, Your path leads to righteousness. Teach us to follow it. Grow in us a passion for Your goodness.

We love You with all of our heart and mind and strength. We love our neighbor as ourselves. God, help us to love our enemies. That one is difficult, but nothing is impossible with You.

Amen
