Behind the Curtain - February 7, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
Hang the curtain from the clasps
and place the ark of the Testimony behind the curtain.
The curtain will separate the Holy Place
from the Most Holy Place.
Exodus 26:33

Daily Thought

Your immune system protects you from impurities in this world. So when your immune system stops working properly, you must get in a room that separates you from the world.

So really, is the problem with your immune system or with the world? Because if the world were pure, you wouldn't have an immune system.

In the Garden of Eden, God lived with us, no problem. But by the time of Moses, God has a room that separates himself from the world. A curtain in the entrance of God's Most Holy Place separates God from us.

Impurities again. It's called sin. If the world were pure, there wouldn't be a curtain.

Along comes Jesus, who defeated the power of sin by paying the penalty for sin on the cross. Guess what happened? The curtain ripped open, top to bottom. The curtain separating God from us. In Jesus Christ, God lives with us again, no problem.

To God's Glory,
Dave

Daily Prayer

Holy God, You are perfect. You call us to be perfect, as You are perfect. To be holy as You are holy. How?

You sent Your only Son, Jesus Christ, to satisfy Your just Law as a perfect sacrifice. Sinless and righteous, His righteousness becomes ours when we die to sin by being baptized into his death and resurrection. Thank You that by Your grace, through faith in Jesus, we may be holy as You are holy.

Amen
