Red Umbrella - February 2, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
This is how you are to eat it:
with your cloak tucked into your belt,
your sandals on your feet
and your staff in your hand.
Eat it in haste; it is the LORD's Passover.
Exodus 12:11

Daily Thought

As the drought continued for what seemed an eternity, the small community of mid-west farmers felt it was time for a prayer meeting to ask for rain.

The pastor, as he began the service, scanned the crowd and took note of an eleven year-old girl sitting in the front row. Her face was beaming with excitement as she quietly sat in her place. Next to her, poised and ready for use, was a red umbrella. No one else had come prepared for rain.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:1-2, 6

To God's Glory,
Dave

Daily Prayer

Lord God, you are God, the only God. You are Creator and we are creation, you are Lord and we serve, you are Sovereign and we believe. If you say so, it is so.

May we first know Your promises. May we be "People of the Book," Your Word. May we know what it says about Your grace, Your plans, Your pleasure. And may we believe. May we not only know Your promises, but God, everyday, live by them.

Amen
