His Pleasure - January 11, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
For what is man's lot from God above,
his heritage from the Almighty on high?
Job 31:2

Daily Thought

"It is finished," said our Savior. When Jesus had accomplished what he had come to do, the cross, our redemption, he sat down. His work was done.
  • After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. ~Hebrews 1:3
  • After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. ~Mark 16:19
  • Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ~Hebrews 12:2
  • But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God. ~Luke 22:69
Jesus sat down, until a disciple named Stephen stood up.

But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. "Look," he said, "I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."
~Acts 7:55-56

What a feeling! Jesus rose from his throne, an ovation from God. Every so often, God opens heaven for a "Hoorah!" When Jesus was baptized, and later when he displayed his glory with Moses and Elijah on the mountain, the Father couldn't refrain. "That's my Son!!"

"I seek not to please myself, but him who sent me."
John 8:29

What's your pleasure?

No matter what the world throws at you, bravo's or boulders, the applause of One counts. Only the applause of One.

For what is man's lot from God above,
his heritage from the Almighty on high?
Job 31:2

To God's Glory,
Dave

Daily Prayer

Our Father, God of heaven and earth, who prepares a place for us forever and fills it with treasures, may we be people who live for eternity rather than today. May we desire your delights and your rewards, rather than the praises and prizes of earth.

Our greatest desire, God, is your pleasure. We know that your pleasure is the source of all that is good and pure and true. May we live with our minds set on things above, where your Son is seated at your right hand. Praise the Name above all names, Jesus Christ.

Amen
