Break Camp And Go - March 11, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
The LORD our God said to us at Horeb,
"You have stayed long enough at this mountain.
Break camp and advance..."
Deuteronomy 1:6-7

Daily Thought

"You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Break camp and advance..."

The Israelites had been at Horeb, also known as Mt. Sinai. God meets Moses, the Ten Commandments, thunder and lightning, thick clouds and trumpet blasts.

It was awesome, it was wonderful, it was uplifting and edifying, it was inspirational, it was terrifying. All the things that make up a good church service.

It was also long. (Like some church services.)

Now it is time to go. God has a promise to fulfill. God has a purpose for you.

"I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you;
I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
All peoples on earth will be blessed through you."
--Genesis 12:2-3

You know what? Every church service every week should close with "You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Break camp and advance..."

The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain. They worshiped Jesus there. Then Jesus said, "Go!"
--Matthew 28:16-19

To God's Glory,
Dave

Daily Prayer

Father God, it is good to gather and worship. It is wonderful to hear Your Word. We love to be blessed. Who wouldn't.

God, it is good to scatter and bless. May we bless others by sharing the blessings You have poured out on us. We know Your Son, may we make Him known. May we be filled to overflowing with Your Spirit. May we love and serve and share Your good news to people everywhere, across the street and around the world.

Amen
