More Humble Than Anyone Else - March 6, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
Then the LORD said to Moses,
"Go up this mountain in the Abarim range
and see the land I have given the Israelites.
After you have seen it,
you too will be gathered to your people,
as your brother Aaron was."
Numbers 27:12-13

Daily Thought

Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth. --Numbers 12:3

That verse may have been written by Moses. It makes me laugh. Are you still humble if you boast about it?

Moses spent 40 years leading a bunch of whiners and complainers to the Promised Land. One sin and God tells him after 40 years, he could look at the Land, but he's not going in.

A lot of people think that wasn't fair. A lot of people think Moses deserved to go in. A lot of people, but not Moses.

Philippians 2 describes Jesus in heaven, equal with God. It says he did not think he needed to hang on to that, but let go, and became a servant to a bunch of whiny, complaining people.

Us. (Sorry about the description.)

You know why? To lead us to the Promised Land - God's Kingdom.

Philippians 2 calls that humility.

Letting go. Leading. Serving.

Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth. --Numbers 12:3

To God's Glory,
Dave

Daily Prayer

Father God, thank You. Thank You for Your Son. Thank You for Your Salvation. Thank You for the humility that You show when You seek us, wash our feet, hang on the cross, and forgive us, each and every one of us, each and every sin.

God, may we be a holy people, set apart for Your pleasure, for Your good news, for Your service on earth. May we do the same things we saw Your Son do, letting go of our will and our treasures, leading others to Your Kingdom, serving one another in love.

Amen
