Two-Face - March 7, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
When a man makes a vow to the LORD
or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge,
he must not break his word but must do everything he said.
Numbers 30:2

Daily Thought

Two-Face is a Batman villain who flips a coin to choose. Heads he does good. Tails evil.

Doesn't matter, you can't trust him. Ever. When you can't trust someone half the time, you can't trust them all of the time. Who knows which half is which.

So Jesus called the Pharisees hypocrites. Two-faced. You couldn't trust them half the time. And the other half, well, you couldn't trust them. Who knows which half is which.

Echad is Hebrew for "one."

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is echad. The Lord is One. --Deuteronomy 6:4

The LORD: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three. One. Echad.

That means there is never two or three meanings to anything. Always one.

Duplicity means two. Duplicity says, "I can't trust you." You don't know who you are dealing with when honesty is a flip of the coin.

Echad is completely trustworthy.

Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
--Matthew 5:37

To God's Glory,
Dave

Daily Prayer

Our God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Holy is Your Name. Always trustworthy, always true, always faithful. Made in Your image, in this we fall. May we be restored in integrity. May we be one as You are one.

God, may we live lives of transparency and truth. Since You see us even when we hide, it is ridiculous for us to be anything but honest, it is foolish for us to be anything but trustworthy. You know us inside and out, our deepest thoughts and intentions. May we reflect You. May our 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and our 'No,' 'No.'

Amen
