He Does Anyway - March 3, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
He and Aaron gathered the assembly together
in front of the rock and Moses said to them,
"Listen, you rebels,
must we bring you water out of this rock?"
Numbers 20:10

Daily Thought

God delivers the Hebrews from slavery and all they do grumble and complain, sin and rebel. Now they are whining again. They are thirsty.

Legitimate question, "Listen, you rebels, must God bring you water?"

No! But he does anyway.

On page 932 in my Bible, Jesus is in a garden. "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me." For 931 pages, the people have grumbled and complained, sinned and rebelled.

Legitimate question, "Must Jesus drink the cup?"

No. But he does anyway.

I get on my knees after years of grumbling and complaining. sinning and rebelling.

Must God forgive me?

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
--1John 1:9

To God's Glory,
Dave

Daily Prayer

Loving God, You show us your love in grace. We do not deserve it, we do not desire it even, and we certainly do not seek it. And then You die for us anyway. You take our sins on Yourself, you pay the price of justification, and You share Your righteousness with us. You adopt us as Your children, and we are co-heirs with Christ.

How can we possibly not love You? We love because You first loved us.

Amen
