Anything But God - November 21, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted,
"The gods have come down to us in human form!"
Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes.
Acts 14:11-12

Daily Thought

1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17... The broadcast from space continued, a series of 261 prime numbers. Earth makes contact with extraterrestrial intelligence.
~Contact, a science-fiction book by Carl Sagan, 1985.

Anything but God.

"Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist."
~Stephen Hawking, The Grand Design

Anything but God.

When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted, "The gods have come down to us in human form!" Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes.
~Acts 14:11-12

Anything but God.

"Men, why are you doing this?"
~Acts 14:15
They exchanged the truth about God for a lie,
and worshiped and served created things
rather than the Creator.
~Romans 1:25

"To look out at this kind of creation out here and not believe in God is to me impossible, ... It just strengthens my faith. I wish there were words to describe what it's like."
~John Glenn, 77 years old, orbiting earth...again. Space Shuttle Discovery, 1998

There are.

Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.
Isaiah 6:3

To God's Glory,
Dave Price

Daily Prayer

Creator God, it is amazing to gaze upon Your handiwork. The sunset was incredible tonight, and then the moon, full, arose, The clouds parted and glimmered, and the sky displayed Your glory. I stopped and stared.

We marvel at Your glory, God. Some do not give You credit, and yet they cannot help but stop and gaze and wonder. May I speak loudly of You and Your handiwork. You are the Author of our creation and our salvation.

Amen
