Start Small - October 15, 2010

Daily Reading

Daily Verse
It is like a mustard seed,
which is the smallest seed you plant in the ground.
Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants,
with such big branches that the birds of the air can perch in its shade.
Matthew 4:31-32

Daily Thought

Darius, king of the Persians, met Alexander the Great for battle.

Darius sent thousands of sesame seeds in bag. A message to Alexander, "We are an army, many and massive. You are outnumbered."

Alexander returned the bag, filled instead with some mustard seed. "We are small, but we pack a punch."

The time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
~Luke 2:6-7

Daily Prayer

My Great God, what an amazing thing, coming as a baby, born to Mary. No earthly father, but a Heavenly Father delivered the Son of God for our salvation. Born to a poor family, peasant shepherds announcing His birth, a Friend of sinners and outcasts, He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

You came small and changed the world. You defeated all enemies, including the last enemy - death. And so we look forward to life eternal. How great a salvation.

Amen.
